The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, University of New Orleans, will hold its annual gala, O What A Night, on October 18, 2008. The evening promises to be the event of the Arts Season with the art, music and culinary talents that reflect the importance and influence of New Orleans culture across the globe.
O What a Night 2007
This year under the leadership of board chairman Julia Reed, O what a Night was taken to a new level. The Ogden Museum of Southern Art has always had a very egalitarian approach to fundraising and a grass roots approach to membership. Reed’s vision was to significantly raise the bar of this event in hopes of exposing the museum on a more national level.
O What a Night was kicked off by an auction preview party at the home of Julia Reed and John Pearce. Over 250 patrons sipped delicious wines and champagnes provided by Republic Beverage and nibbled on delectable morsels provided by acclaimed chef John Besh . There was a definite energy to this party as many collectors began to peruse the auction catalogue and set their sights on some of the extraordinary works of art donated by our illustrious artist partners.
The main event began with a cocktail party in the Patrick Taylor Library and an exclusive glimpse of some of the incredible landscapes in Roger Ogden’s collection. This was followed by extraordinary fare at the Museum's Goldring Hall. The evening concluded with a seated dinner by Herbsaint, the presentation of the inaugural Opus Award (2007 recipient Art Neville) and a host of extraordinary music and auction.
