Ogden Internships
Job Title: Education Intern
Description
The intern will work closely with Education Coordinator and Outreach
Coordinator to assist with the planning and organizing of activities
coordinated by the Education Department such as docent led tours, summer camps
the Summer Teen Docent Program and the Family Fair. Additional duties may
include research for special projects and assisting other areas of the museum
as requested.
The intern will also
be expected to perform general departmental duties, such as preparation of
program packets, creating educational materials, correspondence, educational
blog upkeep and scheduling. Candidates must have excellent organizational and
basic computer skills and should be comfortable interacting with the public.
The intern is expected
to treat the museum staff, artists, members, and patrons with respect; conduct
themselves appropriately and professionally and uphold the values and mission
of the Ogden by acting as a representative of the museum.
Please note that OMSA
internship positions are unpaid.
Qualifications
·
Interest in the arts, education, working
with children and teenagers and experience working in
an educational setting helpful
·
Strong interpersonal
skills required
·
Strong writing
and research skills
·
This internship is open to applicants who have
completed at least one year of college
·
Applicants with a
major in Art History, Art Education, Fine/Studio Art or Museum Studies are
preferred
Time Requirements
Preferably, interns should be available to work from Wednesday May 29, 2013 - Friday August 2, 2013; approximately 20-30 hours per week for 10 weeks.

Job Title: Summer Teenage Docent
Description
An Ogden Museum Summer Teenage Docent will train to lead tours of the museum, serve as counselors for Ogden Museum summer camps and will participate in an outreach program aimed at bringing art to children who are not able to physically visit the museum. This program also aims to broaden the docents’ experience and knowledge through workshops and encounters with artists so that they may confidently and enthusiastically teach and interact with younger children. The Ogden sees this program as a tool to enhance knowledge, build critical leadership skills and allow docents to be role models.
All interns are expected to treat the museum staff, artists, members, and patrons with respect; conduct themselves appropriately and professionally and uphold the values and mission of the Ogden by acting as a representative of the museum.
Please note that an Ogden Museum Summer Docent will receive a stipend at the end of the program.
Qualifications
The applicant must be an Orleans or Jefferson Parish public school student
Have an interest in the arts, education, and/or working with children
Time Requirements
Interns must be available to work from May 29, 2013 - Friday August 2, 2013; Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
