Summer Camps 2016

The Ogden Museum presents a series of small, artistic camps for creative youth. Guided by professional artists and Museum educators, campers will explore fine arts techniques such as drawing, painting, printmaking, design, photography and more, while taking full advantage of a unique museum environment. The Ogden Museum offers creative summer experiences for kids entering grades 2 - 12.

Advanced Fashion Camp

For future fashion designers, working with former 7th Avenue designer and Parsons graduate Veronica Cho will provide a jumping-off point for serious students vying for a career in the fashion world. Students will sketch designs, make dress forms, and create a head-to-toe look that is runway-ready. The camp will culminate in a fashion show for a true 7th Avenue experience

Art & Drama Camp

Working with actor and director Andy Vaught of Cripple Creek Theater Co. and Visual Teaching Artist Suzanna Ritz, students will learn basic art and performance skills, and then create the script, props, scenery and more for an original multi-act play performed on the last day of camp.

Fine Art FUNdamentals

Explore a wide variety of 2D and 3D media in this FUNdamentals camp! We'll focus on traditional techniques like drawing, painting, sculpture, and collage and then add in comics, animation, screen printing, and more! Campers will work with professional visual artists to create both individual and collaborative works inspired by the Museum's collection and great works of art from around the world.

Fashion Camp

Working with Alison Parker of ricRACK NOLA, students will follow the process of a fashion designer from sketch to finished product. Classes will start with research and design techniques, figure drawing, and construction (sewing by machine and hand), culminating in a realized “Couture” piece. Students will also work with Dance Instructor Liese Weber, to create a choreographed fashion show presented at the end of the session.

Working with portrait photographer and educator Aubrey Edwards, campers will spend the first week learning basic elements of photography including composition, exposure, storytelling, and functions of their camera. During the second week, students will focus on more advanced areas of photography such as photojournalism, portraiture, fashion and lighting. Campers will leave with a portfolio of edited work and participate in a student-curated Museum exhibition opening White Linen Night.
